Windsor Secondary School offers Youth Work in Trades in conjunction with the Industry Training Authority (ITA). The Work Train in Trades program is designed for those students who are currently working part-time in a trade, under a certified Journey Person, or who know of someone who might hire them to work in a trade. It is possible for students to earn up to 16 credits while in school. Four credits are assigned for every 120 hours of work completed. These hours are also counted towards the total number of hours needed to become a journeyman in their chosen trade. Trades are not what they use to be and are in high demand. Jobs are out there!!!

A Youth Work in Trades person is:
- 15 years of age or older
- Working in a paid, part time position in an apprenticable trade. They would be working under the supervision of an qualified worker who is registered with the Industry Training Authority (ITA).
The student will receive
- 4 credits towards graduation for every 120 hours completed on the job site, to a maximum of 16 credits or 480 hours.
- Apprenticeship hours can be completed in a number of ways including after school, weekends, holidays, or in Windsor’s case, you can be at Windsor one semester and working one semester
- Students who complete the 480 hours, achieve a C+ average in their Grade 12 courses, and are working in the trade six months after graduation will automatically get a $1000.00 Scholarship from the Ministry of Education.

- Industry certification
- job ready skills
- post secondary credits (some programs)
Youth Train in Trades Carpentry Program
The Youth Train in Trades Carpentry program provides training for Grade 11 and 12 students interested in a career in carpentry and related trades. Based at West Vancouver Secondary, students receive training every second day, while attending their Windsor for core academic subjects on the other day.
